YES: SACRED MTN.

Um, hello, new favourite illustrator.

YES: SOFT POWERS

"BAD POP" is available to stream and download on Bandcamp (but it's not in the iTunes store, so I can't like it with iTunes Ping). It sounds like dreaming about Curtis Mayfield.

YES: RUINS

Friendly proprietors, comfortable space, intriguing mix of fresh and vintage, and a decidedly New York atmosphere. Like.

Favourite pieces: Assembly shrunken blazer in tweed, Patrik Ervell formal pants in dark grey tweed, Alternative Apparel silk modal boyfriend tee in nude, and a vintage Dutch field jacket.

And, they're having 20% off fall stuff until today! They close at 5.

MAYBE: ITUNES PING

It's been two weeks and while I appreciate it, I don't really like it.

I think it's a good way to encourage use of the iTunes store and increase artists' visibility and interaction with their fans, but between friends it's not that useful: it only recommends music that has been purchased/liked/posted through the iTunes store, not, you know, that library you've been working on for like, since, like, ever.

There's a lot of potential, there, though, since everybody likes music and uses iTunes. So, maybe.

YES: KIN F/W 2010

A minimal and elegant take on classics by Toronto's own Sydney Mamane (you probably know his eponymous shop, Sydney's, on Queen West).

YES: "THE ANGELS BETRAYED" IN VOGUE NIPPON OCTOBER 2010

Angles, lines, and contrast are amazing. Especially like the camel pieces against the soft blue...

YES: FALL CLOTHES

I'm kind of over summer. Bring on the fall.

YES: BROGUES

Old standards, Tricker's Country Boots.
Featuring Goodyear Welted Construction and water repellent leathers which combat the demands of the great outdoors. Perfect for my rugged lifestyle.

These brogues are from Common Projects' new Fall 2010 collection, via Selectism.

Black brogue boots by Hudson; not sure if they'll have these at Ruins, but I do believe they stock Hudson.

A cuter version for ladies: F-Troupe's Jessica Ogden Boot, available at Opening Ceremony.

YES: SECRET CITIES

Really like this. Lush, rich, confusing, it takes you back and moves you forward at the same time.

YES: GALT BAGS

Simple and elegant. Also, kind of funny, as I'm all-too-familiar with the non-greatness of Galt, Ontario.

Via Selectism.

YES: ROBYN BODY TALK PART 2

Maybe not quite as YES as Dancing On My Own, but scour the internet for Body Talk Part 2, it's definitely worth it.

MAYBE: M.I.A. "XXXO"

Awful song. Amazing video.

YES: MAKR CARRY GOODS

Twice in the last couple of weeks, but I had to: Makr has some new products, including this stunning iPad attaché. They also make a very nice schoolhouse-style work stool. Via MAKR Blog.

NO: STEVEL MEISEL FOR VOGUE ITALIA

Glamorizing an ecological disaster is distasteful. There is no beauty in it.
